This family-run hotel is within easy reach of the JJB Stadium, the Robin Park Sports complex, the Three Sisters race track, Haydock Racecourse and the Reebok Stadium.
Situated on the A573 main road into Wigan, the Coaching Inn Hotel has a convenient location, whatever your reason for visiting the region. Just a mile (1.6 km) from the city centre, the hotel’s offers easy access to the region’s major road network. There is a good, regular bus service to and from the city centre.
Free, secure, private parking is available for guests’ use.
Built in 1895, this Victorian hotel is rich in individual character, with 18 clean and comfortable en suite rooms (no clean-cut lines like modern hotels). Each room provides an office desk and tea/coffee making facilities.
Family owned and run for over 30 years, the hotel takes great pride in the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, informal surroundings and warm welcome it offers.

Single-Sex and Group Bookings:
Single-sex bookings and group bookings will only be allowed at the hotel's discretion. All guests' names must be shown on the internet booking form.
For such bookings, a deposit may be required and the hotel will telephone you to confirm this.

By Car
From the South:
- Leave the M6 at junction 23 and turn right on to the A580 signposted to Manchester.
- Follow the road along until you reach the first roundabout. Turn left onto the A573.
- Follow signs for Golbourne, Abram and Wigan.
- Continue along this road for approximately 4 miles and the hotel is situated on the left-hand side.
From the North:
- Leave the M6 at junction 27.
- Follow the signs to Wigan (approximately 4 miles).
- When you reach the duel carriageway (passing Tesco on your right), turn left at the 2nd set of traffic lights, following signs for the A573 Golbourne.
- Pass Wigan Little Theatre on the left.
- Continue along this road through 2 sets of traffic lights for approximately one mile. The hotel is on the right-hand side.
